Day 17 - Do a Little Dance, Make a Little Love, Let's Blog Tonight...Let's Blog Tonight

First I would like to start out by thanking those that are following my blog.  Second if you have created an account and are one of the 7 showing up as a follower, then I send you an extra thank you. I never know for sure if anyone is listening and to leave a comment you must be a signed on follower.  So is anyone listening???

Today I squeezed into some of my older pants (which before I couldn't even pull over my thighs) and every time I sat down the button popped.  pop, pop, pop if it weren't for my shirt I probably would have flashed someone.  So it was good that I could shimmy into them not so good that I was popping my buttons.  So a little bit more to go to say I have dropped a dress size.  Then I realized my big girl booty needs to climb the stairs again.  But lately I have had so much energy that I really want to start running again. :o)

Let's talk about Eastern Medicine versus Western Medicine.

According to dictionary.com medicine is:

1.
any substance or substances used in treating disease orillness; medicament; remedy.
2.
the art or science of restoring or preserving health or duephysical condition, as by means of drugssurgical operationsor appliances, or manipulations: often divided into medicineproper, surgery, and obstetrics.
3.
the art or science of treating disease with drugs or curativesubstances, as distinguished from surgery and obstetrics.

Western Medicine:
Wisegeek.com defines western medicine as:  Western medicine is the term used to describe the treatment of medical conditions with medications, by doctors, nurses and other conventional healthcare providers who employ methods developed according to Western medical and scientific traditions. Other names forWestern medicine include traditional medicine or allopathic medicine. It differs from Eastern, or alternative, medicine, in its approach to treatment, which relies heavily upon industrially produced medications and a strict adherence to the formal scientific process.

Shelly Gibson says - western medicine is about treating a dis-ease in the body by using a drug or supplement.  It is like putting a patch on a bike tire.  It may take care of it for a while but enough pressure and wear and tear and the patch comes off and then it is just downhill from there.  But I think we can all agree that although we are living longer due to these patches, is isn't because we are healthier.  And the longer these drugs are around, we here about our bodies becoming immune to them (well duh the body recognizes food...not chemicals), them not working, trying this drug and that drug to find one that works for a short time.  These drugs are killing our bodies and not keeping them young and alive.  Basically we are putting our bodies on life support at an early age.  The medicine is keeping us alive...not our bodies.  Blah blah blah.  Good young Western Medicine.

In addition, I find it interesting that Eastern medicine is consider "alternative" considering it has been around much longer than western medicine.

Eastern Medicine:

The theory and practice of traditional Chinese medicine takes an approach to disease and therapy that is diametrically different from Western ways.  The Chinese prefer preventative techniques; the West concentrates on quick cures.  In fact, prior to the 20th Century, most Chinese families retained family doctors much as modern corporations retain lawyers.  The doctor was paid a set monthly fee and made regular rounds to dispense herbal remedies and medical advice specifically tailored to the individual needs of each family member.  When a member of the family fell seriously ill, the doctor was held fully responsible for failing to foresee and prevent the problem.  Payments were stopped.  Only when he cured the patient at his own expense did his normal fee resume.
Taiwan Insight Guides (1984), page 272

Now I don't know about you but that sounds like a much better plan than paying doctors when we get sick in hopes of them giving us the right medicine.  But the right medicine is in the food G-d intended for us to eat and to nourish our bodies.  I would rather retain a doctor to keep me healthy then to pay doctor, upon doctor just to get it wrong and put my body on medicinal life support.

Lets look at the charts below.

So where does Sunrider come in.  Sunrider's approach to health is to use the right combinations of food to nourish and cleanse the body - to keep a balance between yin and yang.  Based on the Philosophy of Regeneration, Sunrider products help keep the five systems of the body in balance, just as the five elements keep the universe in harmony.  Now I think someone had a plan!!!!

The eastern philosophy of feeding the body and allowing it to heal itself and only using western medicine when we are in crisis modes makes the most sense to me.  It is not one or the other.  It is a little of both kind of like this picture (can you see the two images).

This link is to a great article regarding dis-eases and how western versus eastern would treat the same dis-ease.
